Editor's Description

Since Brighton Institute of Cosmetology's founding in 1965, it has embraced a philosophy of individualized instruction and hands-on opportunities to practice technical skills and use the tools of the trade. Classroom instruction leads to supervised work with the public, satisfying all of Michigan's curriculum requirements for licensure.

Reviews from former students cite affordability, hands-on training, and good career preparation as benefits of attending Brighton. One reviewer writes, "Good combination of classroom and hands on learning. The Brighton Institute of Cosmetology has the number one passing rate in the state of Michigan so I am proud to have attended there!"

The 1,500-hour, full-time cosmetology program is comprehensive, covering all aspects of the industry, including hair, skin, and nail care.

For students wishing to teach cosmetology, the instructor program is 500 hours and offers students hands-on practice at assisting and teaching under the supervision of a licensed educator.

Both the manicuring and esthetician programs are 400 hours each, but manicuring may be completed on a full- or part-time basis, while future estheticians should plan to attend full time.
