I came here once in September and I did not have a good experience. I came in for cornrows and my braider did a good job. However, I politely asked the braider to flat iron my leave out not expecting it would be extra but instead I was charged by the owner an extra $5 while I was still in the chair. The price for the braids is determined by how many you get and I got 8 which came up to $40. I thought that was a bit high but I was on a time stretch. Also, I was charged before the service was done which I thought was strange because typically you pay after being serviced and expressing satisfaction with the style. I came with two other people as well who also got stuff done so it’s not like I intended on walking out after it was done. Next, I came in with my hair washed and blow dried because that’s what I’m used to doing for other stylists and I didn’t know their system considering I had never been here before. My braider was going to wash/blow dry me again however the owner said no and said to braid it anyways. Even though she said later on that all clients must taken to the bowl no matter what so why wasn’t I? Clearly, the policy is only enforced on a person to person basis. Perhaps, they were short staffed that day but to me that was not a reason to treat paying customers that way. To be honest, the students had a good demeanor but not the manager. I’m all for supporting Black businesses but considering my experience here, this place did not seem professional at all and I would not spend my money nor visit again.

The most unprofessional hair school I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been going to hair school since I was a child. In my opinion this is a braid school and not an overall salon very unprofessional untidy, uninvolved instructor.
Also, this is cash only and that was not anywhere advertised until I walked in the door

First as a salon :
This is cash only and I was not told that when I called to make the appointment. I also was there for 2 and a 1/2 hours I had my hair washed and trimmed it was 25$ plus tip, this normally takes 45min. Compared to a salon, that's a good price. But compared to any other hair school in the area that's a much higher price.
Secondly as a school:
I couldn't tell you what the student's uniform the students just didn't look professional and during my cut the instructor was not it's present causing my stylist to leave me multiple times to find Her, I had a trim with basic layers , my student didn't know how to do this .
The "salon" itself didn't feel very polished insulation hanging out of the ceiling, spider webs in corners overall just not up to the standard I have seen schools in the area.
Now the positive: the students were very polite. but overall not professional and not what I was expecting from a hair school.
I have gone to many hair schools and I have never had an experience like this so I will not be returning. Also, take all reviews "with a grain of salt" because you receive a discount If you leave a positive review before leaving.
