I attended DSI 2 years ago. As you can tell the owner is a very interesting character to say the least. Shiva means well but is not perfect. She can be a little cold and come off dismissive. I personally did not have a good relationship with her BUT she has a damn good team! 1 thing I will never take away from Ms.Shiva is she is running a good business in a very competitive field. You WILL pass your state boards if you decided to come here. The instructors are phenomenal. And you will leave with life long friends. I’m terrible at tests but attending dsi made me pass with a 98% on both State tests because I was drilled with knowledge. I am now 1 of the top earning Estheticians at the wax salon I work at. One of the teachers here told me I had a gift for waxing and I’ve been waxing ever since. No school is perfect. I was 20 at the time and held a grudge against Shiva but I can’t deny I was absolutely set up for success and I am very grateful. Every esthetician school has its pros and cons. There are mostly girls in a room for hours at least 5 days a week learning about the biggest organ we have..things will get feisty. Esthetics is NOT easy. Drama happens no matter where you decide to go but DSI will be the gateway to several opportunities while you are attending and in the future.

I’ve often heard people say that attending esthetics school can be a waste of money, or that students graduate feeling unprepared. But that couldn’t be further from the truth in my experience. The reality is that you get out what you put into it, and thanks to the incredible instructors at this school, I walked away with an education that far exceeded my expectations. I felt more than prepared for the state board exam, starting my career as an esthetician, and navigating the esthetics industry as a whole. One of the biggest contributors to my success was my instructor, Mrs. Renee. The value she added to my education was immeasurable. From day one, you could tell she genuinely cared about each of her students and their futures, often more than the students themselves. Her approach was a perfect blend of encouragement, tough love, and unwavering support, which pushed me to go beyond what I thought I was capable of. She didn’t just prepare us for exams—she prepared us for the realities of working in the esthetics field. Whether it was mastering techniques, understanding skin science, or learning how to interact with clients, she made sure we were ready to take on the world after graduation. I’ll forever be grateful for her impact, and I can’t imagine having had a better foundation to launch my career.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at DSI! The instructors are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about esthetics and it shines through in their teaching! I completed the basic and masters course there and I could not have been happier with my choice! I feel prepared for the field of esthetics both the business side and the service side, and everything else that comes with it. There was a ton of hands on experience, and that is the best way to learn in this field! Others have come to our school amazed at how things are done and felt the other schools they came from were lacking and did not prepare them as much as they would like. I would recommend this school to anyone and everyone.
