I’ve been coming to Douglas J for a few years but I’ve never experienced the quality of service I just received from Gabrielle O’Connor. She puts her clients at ease with light & friendly conversation, which doesn’t feel forced or overly personal. At the same time she’s very observant & respectful of the clients ‘personal’ time and preferences ( I even nodded off for a few minutes). Today, while expertly applying my highlights, she refilled my tea twice never missing an opportunity to ask whether I needed anything else ( a bathroom break, walk to stretch my legs, etc). She was very organized & focused on her tasks as well as my comfort (wiped the chair at the sink & brought it to the height of the basin prior to my sitting in it!!). She warned me about the water temperature BEFORE directing the stream at my scalp rather than apologizing for it ‘ not being under my control’ as other students who did my hair before. When handed an empty bottle of shampoo by a classmate who loudly shared a minute-by-minute account of her date without any concern for who might NOT care to hear at the next wash station, Gabrielle simply apologized & found another one. No excuses, no complaints! Not only did my highlights turn out great ( she checked the progress continuously), she also offered tips on how to care for them. Her positive attitude & admirable work ethic returned my faith in generation Z which, in my experience, tends to be self-absorbed & entitled. I was so very impressed with the quality of service provided by Gabrielle that I booked my next appointment on the spot & hope to send many referrals her way. Well done!!

Sam J. is so amazing! I started with her back in October of 2024, and I was so amazed with her skills that I’ve continued to go to her ever since. I’ve been going to Aveda for a few years now and have seen many students during that time. My hair is naturally curly and has proven to be very challenging for students to straighten with a blowout after my root touch up. Sam has mastered this! She’s also so personable where I feel like I’m taking to my friend when I return for my next appointment. I’m very much going to miss her when she graduates, but she’s going to be amazing in her next adventure!
