Nebraska Hair School and Requirements
All hair stylists in Nebraska must gain a license in cosmetology before they start work. While a cosmetology program might seem like a big step, it’s the perfect way to kick off your hair and beauty career as it teaches you the foundational skills, techniques, and treatments you need to become an expert hairstylist.
A cosmetology license can also open up plenty of career opportunities for hair designers later. It makes it easier to relocate your work to other states and means you can offer services that non-licensed professionals can’t perform. Nebraska Cosmetology School for Hairstylists
If you want to be a hairstylist in Nebraska, attending cosmetology school may seem like a bit of a burden. Luckily, hair design is a significant topic in Nebraska cosmetology school, so you should still get to follow that passion. It also adds on skin and nail services, allowing you to offer a bit of everything.
The course content will vary from school to school, but classes typically cover a wide range of topics, including hair cutting, styling, waving, and dyeing; skincare and esthetics; and manicuring. It’ll also cover other must-know topics such as hygiene, sanitation, and state laws and regulations, all of which help set you up for a safe, successful career in hair.
It’s also possible to gain licensure through a hands-on trainee program, also known as an apprenticeship.
Just like the regular program, an apprenticeship takes 1,800 training hours to complete, and you should learn all the topics you would in a regular cosmetology program.
Continuing Education
Even after you’ve gained your license, staying on top of the latest industry trends and techniques is essential. Taking independent classes or continuing education is a great way to keep your portfolio up-to-date, ensure you stay at the top of your game, and offer your clients the best service possible.

The best way to determine how much you could earn is to analyze salaries and talk to other hairstylists in your area.
