State License Requirements
Required to earn a teacher training license
Before you become a licensed cosmetology, aesthetics, or nail technology instructor, you must have a valid license to practice your chosen cosmetological art. You also need at least one year of full-time work experience. Cosmetology instructors need 650 hours of training, while esthetics instructors need 500 hours of schooling and nail technician instructors need 350 hours. You must pay a $100 written exam fee and a $70 licensing fee.
